THEY were only at Roxas Boulevard for a walk, so they claimed.

But police wondered why they were all wearing black T-shirts and immediately pounced on them.

Members of the Western Police District arrested early evening yesterday former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman for alleged illegal assembly.

Soliman was arrested together with Vicente Romano, lead convenor of the Black-and-White Movement (BWM), a group seeking President Macapagal-Arroyo’s resignation.

Both were brought to the WPD headquarters along UN Avenue for questioning.

Former President Corazon C. Aquino, accompanied by her son Rep. Benigno Aquino III, immediately went to the police headquarters to find out what happened and expressed concern over the arrest. Another visitor was former Education Secretary Florencio Abad, who with Soliman leads the Hyatt 10, a group of Cabinet members and officials who resigned last year.
