Lawmaker to colleagues: Submit pork barrel accomplishment report

Lawmaker to colleagues: Submit pork barrel accomplishment report – Sun.Star Davao!

IN AN effort to finally put an end to accusations of anomaly on pork barrel fund, House Majority Leader Prospero Nograles dared lawmakers to submit accomplishment reports to the Commission on Audit.

Nograles said this is to determine if projects funded by pork barrel are indeed existent or mere ghost projects.

He posed the challenge after some senators insinuated that administration lawmakers are unfairly getting the lion share of the pork barrel and yet their constituents could barely feel the funding due to absence of projects in their districts.

“They have to look around them, the senators who have been in office for 10 years must have probably gotten pork barrel of P2 billion already because they get P200 million per year. I do not believe that these senators lost one half of their pork to corruption,” Nograles said.

“Better yet let’s require all members of Congress both Senate and House to make a written performance report to detail how much pork they received and indicate where they have put their projects. This is all transparency. Let’s submit report to Commission on Audit as soon as possible to check if projects are real or ghosts,” he added.
