Reming’s rainfall not enough for Angat

Posted by Michille on December 4th, 2006

PARTS of Metro Manila will continue to have waterless days despite the slight rise in the water level of Angat Dam, the main source of water of 1.3 million of the metropolis’ 10 million residents, an official said yesterday.

State hydrologist Edgar dela Cruz said typhoon Reming increased Angat’s water level by some 3 m, to 203 from 200, but that was still below the 211 described as desired.

“We just hope more rain will come,” he said.

Ipo Dam’s water level has also increased slightly, to 99.97 m from 99.09, since Nov. 30. From Angat, water is sent to Ipo before it is released to water treatment facilities and then to consumers.
