NCRPO chief orders Metro police to seize pipe guns as number of people injured rises

By DAVID CAGAHASTIAN

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Reynaldo P. Varilla yesterday ordered the five police district directors, station commanders and precinct commanders to strictly implement the ban on illegal firecrackers and the “polyvinyl chloride (PVC) “boga,” a noisemaker resembling a bazooka or a high-powered combat rifle that has been gaining popularity.

Varilla issued the directive after Health Secretary Francisco Duque III called for the banning and confiscation of the “PVC boga” following an increase in the number of injuries caused by the improper operation of the device in recent days.
