Fire destroys Lipa bet’s home, Fortuner, Benz

CAMP VICENTE LIM, LAGUNA—A two-hour fire razed the house and two luxury vehicles of a congressional candidate and son of Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza in a far-flung village in Lipa City on Tuesday night.
Senior Supt. Prudencio Bañas, Batangas police director, said arson investigators had initially pointed to faulty electrical wiring as the cause of the fire, which destroyed the house of businessman Leandro “Bong†Mendoza Jr.
The younger Mendoza is vying for a House seat in the fourth congressional district of Batangas under the pro-administration Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi).
