Bacolod senior citizens get special therapy beds

Posted by Michille on June 29th, 2007

Bacolod City (29 June) — The Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) received recently four units of accu-pressure therapy beds from the local government of this city.

The Department of Social Services and Development designed a therapy program for the eldery and asked assistance from the LGU.

The beds were purchased by the city government at Nuga Best Therapy Beds worth P664,200 taken from the city’s Senior Citizen Development Plan for 2007.

Helen Gonzales, Nuga Best Bacolod Branch Manager said, the Bacolod is the only LGU in the province that has purchased the therapy beds.“The project was already been undertaken earlier, but due to the election banning, it was put in abeyance,” Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said. He added that what is important is the dream of our senior citizens for these therapy beds is now in reality.

The therapy beds will be stationed at the Model Senior Citizen Activity Center in Brgy. 16. “Once the needed structures as well as the staff are ready, our therapy beds will be available for our senior citizens,” DSSD’s Estelita Torrecarrion said.

Thirty-six clients every day will be accommodated for 40 minutes per session. Clients will be classified according to income status and kind of illnesses. Screening of clients will be barangay-based, Torrecareon added.OSCA Head Edgardo Superticioso appreciated the effort of Mayor Leonardia for this project for the elderly. “Some senior citizens go to other places to avail of treatment like this, but here in Bacolod, Korean technology comes to us with this quality treatment,” Superticioso said.
