US offers to help prosecute Joma

THE United States is offering to help the Dutch government in prosecuting Philippine Communist leader Jose Maria Sison, who is facing murder charges in The Netherlands.
US Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney said Friday that the arrest of Sison, founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army, was “a tribute†to the Dutch law-enforcement authorities.
Kenny said the US welcomes Sison’s arrest since it would help put a stop to the efforts of the NPA in sowing terrorism.
“The NPA is in our [terror] list so any efforts to reduce its ability to terrorize the Filipino people are good efforts,†she said.
Kenny said the US had no hand in the arrest of Sison.
