Arroyo reaching out to Singson, says Palace

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang is reaching out to Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson who has threatened to break away from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for pardoning convicted plunderer Joseph Estrada.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita Tuesday said he was “very sure” that Ms Arroyo would not allow things to worsen with Singson.

“For the sake of unity and harmony, especially with allies, the President will not allow this thing to happen,” Ermita told reporters.
