When I read about the news that a Japanese tourist hit a Filipino woman in the back at the cargo carousel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia), I was furious.
I said the Japanese should immediately be deported and never allowed to return.

Rodolfo “Jun†Lozada Jr., the primary witness in the Senate inquiry on the National Broadband Network (NBN) scandal, has brought his crusade for truth in cyberspace.
Lozada led the launching of his blog (http://jlozada.com/) in Quezon City Saturday that was attended by members of Bloggers’ Kapihan, a youth organization that initiated his first online journal.

President to visit US in June, sets talks with Bush
President Arroyo will hold talks with US President George W. Bush on food security as well as economic and defense cooperation during a seven-day visit to the United States next month.
The President is scheduled to travel to Washington DC and New York City from June 23 to 29, 2008 to enhance the country’s relations with its long time economic and military ally, according to Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye.

RP’s asset reform programs get ‘poor’ rating

The government’s implementation of asset reforms, designed to reduce poverty and improve income distribution, has been slow, inadequate and deficient, according to a new research study-survey released Friday.
In his presentation of the Philippine Asset Reform Project Report Card (PARRC) Project, the research team leader, former Economic Planning Secretary Dr. Cielito Habito, said the study found that the overall assessment of the implementation of programs for farmers, urban poor, fisherfolk, and indigenous peoples by program beneficiaries is “poor.”

P200 unpaid bill gets
Lung Center official in trouble
FOR charging P200-worth of personal phone calls to the government, an official of the Lung Center of the Philippines was indicted by the Office of the Ombudsman for graft before the Sandiganbayan.
In a ruling, Ombudsman Ma. Merceditas Gutierrez ordered the filing of charges against Lung Center Executive Director Fernando Melendres.

2 dead in Zambo explosion

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A bomb believed to have been set off by a cellular phone exploded outside the Andrews Air Force base here, killing two people and wounding 22 others, authorities said.
The explosion forced the diversion of the flight of President Arroyo and US Ambassador Kristie Kenney, who were on their way to Tawi-Tawi. Their plane was supposed to make a brief stopover at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB), according to Malacañang sources.
