BI eases policy on minors with Filipino ancestry

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has eased its policy on minors with Filipino roots who would now be allowed entry to the Philippines without an accompanying parent, it was learned yesterday.

A new memorandum order issued by Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said minors can now enter the Philippines if accompanied by a grandparent, guardian or relative.

The proposal to postpone the elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is as good as dead after its proponent, Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, said he would no longer file a bill for it and House leaders admitted it’s too late to tackle the issue.

“When I talked to my colleagues, 90 percent of them did not want to postpone the ARMM elections,” Zubiri said.

MANILA, Philippines – A joint team from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Optical Media Board Wednesday confiscated P200 million worth of counterfeit goods from a private warehouse in Sun Valley Subdivision in Parañaque City.
