Zialcita: No winnable Lakas presidential bet yet

The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party admitted Saturday that they have no winnable presidential bet for 2010 yet.
While the number of presidential aspirants in the fragmented opposition is the least of its worries, the lack of a potential winner for the administration is a problem that needs to be seriously addressed by the ruling Lakas-CMD party of President Arroyo, a senior House member has conceded.

Estrada says Lozada sought his assistance

Armed struggle more attractive to rebels, says analyst

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – A Moro analyst said on Saturday that armed struggle has become an attractive alternative in Mindanao because of the government’s decision to scrap the controversial Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
Prof. Abhoud Syed Lingga, executive director of the Institute of Bangsamoro Studies, said the decision was “disturbing.”

aid for refugees – rebel leader
ZAMBOANGA CITY: Philippine Muslim rebels fighting government forces on Saturday accused the military of preventing food aid from reaching refugees in the troubled region of Mindanao.
Radio network dzRH had reported that the troops were preventing aid workers from bringing food packs to refugees in Lanao del Norte province.

MANILA, Philippines — A senior Roman Catholic Church official on Saturday urged embattled Pampanga Governor Ed Panlilio choose between his political position and priesthood to better serve his constituents.
In a chance interview with reporters at Intramuros, Dagupan-Lingayen Archbishop Oscar Cruz reminded Panlilio that “Politics is the art of compromising,” which goes against the grain of priesthood.
