UN sends 40 tons of biscuits to Mindanao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Reports about the increasing number of children dying of hunger in refugee camps in conflict areas in Mindanao has prompted the United Nation’s World Food Program (WFP) to ship in about 40 tons of high-energy and highly-nutritious biscuits.

Stephen Anderson, WFP country director and representative to the Philippines, on Saturday said the vitamin-enriched biscuits were scheduled to be off-loaded in three tranches at the Davao International Airport starting today.
